Our latest paper on our NorthBlock Technologies Smart Container which is a DEA-Compliant Drug Detection and Deactivation Technology to Deter Opioid Theft in Hospitals for Next Generation Controlled Substance Diversion Prevention Program (CSDPP). You can find them attached to this post.
Prescription opioids accounted for 73% of deaths, heroin killed 24% from age 15 to 19 (Ravitz, J. 2018).
With opioid overdoses increasing, it directly or indirectly endangers people’s health, quality of life and safety. The global economy, politics and society as a whole are also greatly impacted. As an effective means of product quality and safety management and control, many countries and regions have researched, developed and operated the traceability systems for opioids. On the one hand, these technologies have not been able to achieve more accurate traceability, these results cannot be directly used in market. There are programs in place to mitigate the misuse of opioids such as the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Controlled Substance (CS) Diversion Prevention Program (CSDPP) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA). These programs are flawed due to human error and exploits. The goal of this paper is to educate the reader about solutions NorthBlock Technologies is working on to save the Pharmaceutical Industry $78.58 billion annually.
